Auto Parts Exporter Recovers USD 21,000 in US Tariff Refunds Through Intoglo’s CAPE Support

USD 21,000 Refunded

Recovered in lot 1 from US CBP through CAPE filing

3 Weeks

Time taken from filing refunds to receiving the amount

Overview

An auto parts exporter based out of Ludhiana, regularly shipping from India to the USA, had paid additional US tariffs on multiple shipments. With monthly volumes of 8–10 FCLs, the exporter wanted clarity on:

  • Whether their shipments were eligible for refunds
  • How the US CBP refund process works
  • What setup was required to successfully claim the refunds

Challenge

Complex Refund Process:

The tariff refund process involved multiple operational and compliance layers across banking, customs, and CBP systems.

Banking & Compliance Setup:

Since the exporter operated on a door-to-door model, the refunds needed to be received directly by them - but they did not have a US bank account or ACH setup in place.

Customs Entry Validation:

The customs entries needed to be carefully reviewed to validate entry types, refund eligibility, and ensure all entries were correctly linked within ACE.

Filing Through CAPE:

The exporter also needed support navigating the CAPE filing process with US CBP to ensure the refund claims were filed accurately and without delays.

The Intoglo Solution

Intoglo worked closely with the exporter to manage the tariff refund process end-to-end from ACE Setup to CAPE filing with US CBP

Banking & Compliance Setup:

Our team assisted with ACE account setup, US bank account & ACH setup, and ensured the exporter was ready to receive refunds directly in USD.

Customs Entry Review & CAPE Filing:

Intoglo reviewed customs entries, validated refund eligibility, ensured entries were correctly linked in ACE, and completed the first CAPE filing on 23 April.

Refund Received in 3 Weeks:

The exporter received a USD 21,000 tariff refund from US CBP on 15 May - within just 3 weeks of filing.

Additional Refunds Underway:

This was the first lot of refunds processed, with additional refunds currently underway - enabling the exporter to reinvest the recovered capital back into the business instead of it remaining blocked with US Customs.
